We educate and empower culturally engaged, community-oriented, technology makers and problem solvers. We started with one after school class at Jarrett Middle School in 2014 and are now in service of 40 employees, 3 pulapula (departments) and multiple programs across the pae ʻāina.

Job Overview

The Digital Creators Program Manager will oversee the planning, execution, and management of the Digital Creators program, with a focus on building a local community of culturally-grounded and community-oriented creative professionals across Hawaiʻi. This role includes curriculum development, partnership coordination, and both in-person and virtual instruction. Additionally, the Program Manager will manage grant-funded projects and handle travel logistics.

Strong leadership and expertise in curriculum development are essential, as is the ability to manage partnerships and hybrid programs across the islands. Experience managing grant-funded programs is a bonus. The Program Manager may also serve as the Lead Instructor for the course, acting as the main point of contact for virtual students and teaching a module.

Position: Full-Time Employee

Reports to: Mālama Director

Location: Hybrid, both remote and in-person in Oʻahu

Travel Requirements: 4-6 times throughout the year

Residency: Must be a Hawaiʻi resident

 

Key Responsibilities

Program Planning and Management:

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and management of the Digital Creators program and its virtual and hybrid courses
  • Continuously iterate and refine the program to align with the organization’s evolving vision and goals, ensuring that the content remains relevant and impactful for the community
  • Manage grant-funded programs, ensuring program objectives are met and budgets are monitored
  • Create grant reports to document program outcomes and demonstrate impact
  • Coordinate with program partners to integrate curriculum development and partnership initiatives
  • Train and onboard new instructors, providing guidance on curriculum delivery, course expectations, and teaching methods to ensure a consistent and high-quality learning experience across all cohorts
  • Maintain regular communication with students and staff, providing updates, feedback, and support as needed

Curriculum Development, Instruction, and Student Engagement:

  • Develop and refine curriculum for adults and high school seniors, in collaboration with Digital Creators kumu
  • Deliver engaging and informative lessons in storytelling, graphic design, digital marketing, and other relevant digital skills, in collaboration with Digital Creators kumu
  • Design hands-on projects and assignments to allow students to apply learning and gain practical experience, in collaboration with Digital Creators kumu
  • Coordinate guest speakers to provide students with opportunities to learn from industry professionals
  • Provide constructive feedback on students’ work, track progress, and evaluate performance, in collaboration with Digital Creators kumu
  • Assist students in identifying career opportunities, offering guidance on job trends, resume-building, and portfolio development

Hybrid Program Management:

  • Oversee and manage hybrid courses across Maui and Oʻahu
  • Collaborate with island-based instructors and community partners to coordinate in-person sessions and provide student support
  • Plan in-person program kick-offs and in-person graduations (hōʻike) for hybrid cohorts
  • Travel to other islands with hybrid programs 2-3 times per cohort to host in-person sessions
  • Collaborate with island-based instructors to handle logistics for outer-island travel, including booking flights, accommodations, and other necessary arrangements for the program team as needed

Other Responsibilities

  • Hālau Hekili: Develop course curriculum or workshops for Hālau Hekili as requested and as capacity allows
  • Professional Development: Continuously update your knowledge and skills in graphic design and digital marketing to maintain the ability to design relevant curriculum and sustain credibility as an instructor and industry leader
