ʻĪnana Sessions
This program uses technology education to foster student engagement, expression, and leadership. Students explore their world through imaginative digital, tactile/embodied arts, math content, and make connections with guest experts from the community. Courses are often virtual so students can join from anywhere in the world!
Welo Classes
Welo (March to April) – Leo in the eastern evening sky. All things grow; crops maturing. ‘Ilio-holo-i-ka-uaua (monk seal) pups are born, spring through summer.

Unleash your inner scientist with our STEM Exploration workshop!
Join us for a hands-on journey of discovery and creativity as you design and build your very own paper microscope using simple materials such as index cards, acrylic spheres, tape, chopsticks and scissors.

Game Jam & Jelly
April 3 – May 3
Mondays, Wednesdays 5:30-7:00 pm HST
Learn the fundamentals of game development with GoDot. At the end of the course, haumāna will participate in a game jam to compete for a small prize! To register for this course, haumāna should have an understanding of the core fundamentals in programming including: variables, if-else statements, loops, and functions.

Makahiki Games
April 3 – May 8

Learn about Makahiki by developing online interactive games using block coding. This is an introduction to the Scratch platform.

Voyaging XR
April 3 – May 8
Mondays 5:00-6:00 pm, Thursdays 4:30-6:00 pm HST
What are the parts of a waʻa kaulua and how are they lashed together? What are the tools for navigating and traveling on the canoe? Using ancestral practice and biomimicry processes, we will design innovations for the waʻa of the future using multiple 3D modeling and extended reality (XR) creation platforms.

Musical Squids

Learn the basics of C#, a popular object oriented programming language used for video game development! Weʻll work together to create music with our coding skills!

Let’s time-warp into a world where good almost always defeats evil! Together we’ll deep dive into the world of comics. By the end of class haumāna will create their own set of comics using https://www.pixton.com/.

Walking Makahiki
November 1 – December 1
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 4:30-5:30 pm
Join your Kumu as we celebrate Makahiki on a 130 mile walking expedition around O’ahu, including visits to various wahi pana and with multiple special guests as we explore ways to capture and tell the stories of our beautiful islands and home using drones, LiDAR, 360 degree cameras, GoPros and a smartphone. Haumāna will create a Google Earth Project that shares the story of your own Walking Makahiki huaka’i and the important places and people in your own community.
